Qualites & Attitudes

In Inquiry this term we are learning about Work and leisure and what the differences are. This activity is called qualities and attitudes. I had to figure out some qualities I have and some things I need to work on. I really enjoyed doing this and would love to do it again.

 Here I am in New york. I found It quite challenging when I was trying to find the right background and taking a photo but, all turned out GREAT! Next time I want to take a better photo of myself.

RUGBY WORLD CUP

This is my Rugby world cup ball:

Last week on Friday the Rugby world cup started.

 The first match was between Hosts Japan VS Russia. Japan won the first match.

I learnt alot about the world cup, Japan, Australia and the Webb Ellis Cup.

Next time I would like to write a bit tidier.

I got into the finals for it and came 3rd.

I really enjoy doing speeches and love performing them. 

I choose this topic because I always enjoy hearing what happened in the 20th century.

Problem Solving:

This is our problem solving group problem. The other people in my group were Romie and Kayla here are there links to their blogs: Romie's Blog: http://romieslearning.blogspot.com/

I really enjoyed working on this problem with my group. I did find it a bit challenging at the start because I got a bit tangled and went in the opposite direction but, we got there in the end. Next time, I know that working it out using the money into hours strategy is a lot easier.

Polyline Art

This is my polyline profile art. Polyline is a line tool that you can find on google slides, You insert a photo and trace around it then fill it with a fill colour. I really enjoyed doing this and would love to do it again.

KWL

For Inquiry this term our topic is Sustainability and we went on a sustainable walk a few posts ago. 

We learnt about lots of thing to do with sustainability. So, for this task we put labels on the sides and wrote what I want to Know & what I want to know. I love how mine turned out and would love to do it again. 

Greek and Latin Roots

In wordwork we are learning about greek and latin roots. 

You had to choose one root word and say the different words that have that word in it and means almost the same thing. I really enjoyed putting this video together. Please comment below!

Today we learnt what Netiquette is, and how to use it. We all created a poster using a app called Piktochart. I love the way mine turned out:

Enviro Trip

Yesterday, the whole year 6 neighbourhood all did a BIG walk! We started at Mangapapa school and walked across bridges, mud, grass and everything in between. We then arrived at the Botanical Gardens and had morning tea and played. My friends and I did a last to leave competition then we jumped on the tramps. Our next destination was the HB Williams Memorial Library and who ever brought a library card got to issue a book. Once we all had a read of a book, then we were on our way. Next stop the enviro centre. We learnt about Recycling, Reusing and Reducing plastic ♻. Then learnt about composting, worm farms, vegetables, fruit and herbs. Some kids also learnt that some chillies are HOT AND SPICY!!!

Workshop Wall

In the year 6 neighbourhood we have workshop wall, whatever you need to learn it is on the wall. You can pick which one you need to learn. I love that you can learn something new instead of learning something you already know. 

Paper wheel CHALLENGE

In room 12 and 14 we did the paper wheel challenge. The way it works is you have two materials: newspaper and sellotape. You then need to create a wheel of newspaper and sellotape and walk like you are in a hamster ball and try and walk to the other side of the room. Mine and everyone else's paper wheel ripped. Here is a photo: 

The Magic Square

In maths we are learning how to fill in a magic square. We first started with the number 1,2 and 3 and the number on the outside must equal diagonally, horizontally, up and down. The three numbers that are in a row need to equal three times the number in the middle. After we worked out the answer to that we moved on to three digit number now we are on decimal magic squares I didn't enjoyed they struggle to get there but, loved the relief when I was finished.

 He has been created by Quinn (myself), Rosanna and Ashmara. I love what we have created and which is pretty good with the amount of effort we put into it!

 I really enjoyed the work leading up to it and would love to do it again.

Looking Back I Wish I'd Known

This is a piece of art that we did in room 12 I really enjoyed it.

You needed to have a few ideas and it was based on what bad things or things that are not so great that have happened and what you wished you would have known before you did it  I used my water colour pencils and love how it came out!

Maths

In maths we did a problem about dog ages my team placed our first ages of the dogs then multiplied them to equal 45 we kept changing the ages until we got an equal sum of 45.

I enjoyed the challenge to find the right sum. I didn't enjoy losing lots of my pencil lead.😉

ANZAC Artwork

In Room 12 we did some ANZAC Artwork using water colours and vivids, and try to create a sunset with a soldier silhouette I love how mine turned out:

In room 12 reading we learnt all about rips this is the poster that I created I enjoyed that I was able to do this on a chromebook. My poster is all about keeping yourself SAEE!!!

In room 12 we all made T-shirts and filled in the spaces with thing we like.

I loved EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!

For art we studied an Italian artist called Modigliani we all did a portrait in his style. 

The thing that made his portraits different were that he made necks very long and no pupils in the eyes. Here is my portrait:

I enjoyed it very much and would love to do it again.

I room 12, we learnt all about Waitangi day,

I learnt that the first Maori to sign the treaty was Hone Heke, the treaty was signed in 1840 and we have celebrated Waitangi day since 1974.

I wonder what awaits for 2019?

I absolutely can't believe that I am already a year 6 role model of the school it seems like just yesterday that I was looking up to all the year 6's but now I am one.

So bring it on 2019!!!!
